The orchestra was formed in the autumn of 2004 to play larger scale and more adventurous works specifically arranged or composed for the orchestral format.
We are conducted by Andrew Collis, a recorder player, teacher and conductor. You can fine out more about Andrew on his website.
We play a range of music, enjoying arrangements of orchestral works, and modern works written specifically for recorder orchestra of which there are an increasing number, by composers like Steve Marshall, Dietrich Schnabel and John Hawkes.
Members come from all over Devon, Cornwall, Dorset, Somerset, and from the Bristol area: we are keen to increase our numbers, and welcome new players of a good standard. Bass, Great Bass and Contrabass players are especially welcome. If you would like to be considered, we expect proficiency in both C and F instruments (Grade 5 plus) and also preferably to have and play a bass. Contact is Shirley Brown.
The rehearsal dates for 2024 are here.
We meet in Kenton Village Hall, near Exeter – click here for a map
